Are you a birdwatcher?  If so there are more than 240 species of birds for you to see at this refuge.  There are also elk, bison and deer.

 

Just observe the wildlife that roam the area, it’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy seeing nature at it’s most beautiful.
Just enjoy the flowing river, the beautiful colors of the fall or the deep greens in the summer.

A beautiful pine-dotted canyon, featuring many waterfalls, is the favorite ‘putting-in’ spot for canoeists on the river.  You can enjoy this outdoor experience regardless of your experience level.

The refuge is handicap accessible.

Refuge open year-round, daylight hours. Visitor center displays information on old frontier fort. Open Memorial Day-Labor Day, daily, 8am-4:30pm. Rest of the year, Mon-Fri, 8am-4:30pm.

Admission: Free.

Alcohol Prohibited.

Group tours offered with reservation only.

$1 canoe or tube launch fee.
