Henry Doorly Zoo – Omaha, Nebraska

Henry Doorly Zoo.jpegOmaha is the largest city in Nebraska, and as such is a major center of the tourist activity in the state. The “Gateway to the West” as it is often called, is situated along the Missouri River.  One of its attractions is the Henry Doorly Zoo.

Quite a few famous Americans were born in Omaha, including Malcolm X, Fred Astaire, Henry Fonda, Marlon Brando, and even Gerald Ford, the 38th President of the United States. The public can even visit his birth site.

Those visiting Omaha will find a great variety of different things to see and do. The city offers zoos, museums, and much more. Both adults and children will have a great time while in Omaha. Here are two of the most popular places to visit while in Omaha.

The Henry Doorly Zoo

This is one of the most popular attractions in the city. Both vacationers and those who call Omaha their home are drawn to the zoo. The zoo prides itself on promoting conservation, research, recreation, and education to all those who visit their facility.

Visit some Malaysian sun bears or polar bears in the Bear Complex, or get close to some tigers, lions, leopards, and jaguars in the Cat Canyon. See the gorillas in Gorilla Valley, trek through a jungle or head deep underground and tour the Kingdom of the Night cave complex. You can even check out many different marine creatures at Scott Aquarium.
