The Heartland Museum of Military Vehicles is dedicated to the restoration and preservation of military equipment. Located just off Interstate 80 and US 283 at 606 Heartland Road in Lexington, Nebraska, the Museum is open to the public seven days a week, Monday to Saturday 10 am to 5 pm, and on Sunday, 1 pm to 5 pm. The Crane Meadows Nature Center is a great place to visit for anyone, child or adult, who loves nature and the great outdoors. The Crane Meadows Nature Center is located at 9325 South Alda Road in Wood River, Nebraska on the south side of the Alda Interchange (exit 305) on Interstate 80.
Although Nebraska is known more for its voluminous commercial corn production than its wines, Nebraska actually had a flourishing wine and grape growing industry in the late 19th century, but much of that industry was devastated by such uncontrollable factors as prohibition, the Great Depression, and the Dust Bowl disaster. Henry Fonda once referred to the museum, which includes the cottage where he was born, by saying it was where “Nebraska’s pioneer heritage lives for tomorrow.” Read more

1,500-ton, 309-foot structure built to show the lifestyles and hardships of the pioneers crossing Nebraska. According to the Maimi Herald it is one of the top 10 cool museums for kids…adults like it too. Read more
There is a lot of history hidden beneath Boot Hill Cemetery in Sidney, Nebraska. Some of it is well-known and some of it has yet to be discovered. With a cemetery that has the history behind it that this one does, being used at one time for the soldiers lost in the battles at Fort Sidney, and at another time to bury the remains of those that died in what became a very wild old western town. General Curtis LeMay had a vision of having a museum that preserved aircraft, and in 1959 his vision started to take shape as the first plane was brought to what was then known as the Strategic Aerospace Museum. While life has certainly changed in the years since 1959, so has the museum, as it has even changed its name, looking towards the future, to be sure it doesn’t become limiting. Read more
