Trailside Museum of Natural History - Crawford, Nebraska

Trailside MuseumTrailside Museum of Natural History - Crawford, Nebraska

This one-of-a-kind exhibit features the fossils of two large bull mammoths whose tusks locked together during an Ice Age battle for dominance. During the struggle one mammoth slipped, and they both fell to the earth still locked in combat. Unable to separate, unable to rise, they died where they fell. Extraordinarily preserved, they remained undisturbed for over 10,000 years. Now you will see them just as they were found—forever intertwined.

The museum is located at beautiful, historic Fort Robinson State Park. Three miles west of Crawford, NE, on Highway 20, about 2 hours from Interstate 80.

The main floor of the museum where the exhibits and restrooms are located is wheelchair accessible. The art gallery, located on a lower level, is not wheelchair accessible.
