Wild West Memorial - North Platte, Nebraska

Cody Park Railroad Museum - North Platte, Nebraska
Enjoy seeing the engine and cars that Union Pacific donated to the city of North Platte.
The Union Pacific Railroad Co. donated and installed steam locomotive UP 3977 in the railroad museum area of Cody Park in 1968. This locomotive, after being removed from service at the end of the steam era, was used in snow meter service for a short period. Read more
20th Century Veterans’ Memorial - North Platte, Nebraska
The 20th Century Veterans’ Memorial is a permanent memorial dedicated to and honoring the military men and women of the United States who served their country during the 20th Century. The monument is located in North Platte’s Iron Horse Park, which is adjacent to the busy “crossroads” of the Interstate 80 and U.S. Highway 83 junction. Read more

Feather River Vineyard - North Platte, Nebraska
37 acres of grapes, this vineyard is among the largest in Nebraska. One of Nebraska’s largest vineyards first planted vines in 2001. Area is in Loess Hills, south of North Platte. Boot Hill Cemetery - Ogallala, Nebraska
The old time burials in Boot Hill cemetery were generally with their boots on , thus the name “Boot Hill”. The bodies were buried in canvas sacks and laid on several boards. The dirt was then thrown in and the grave marked with a wooden marker. Boot Hill is unique in that within its sod there lies imprisoned many stories of the early days of Ogallala. Read more

Fort McPherson is the only National Cemetery in Nebraska.
Established on September 27, 1863, Fort McPherson provided protection for traders and trappers in their search for furs, settlers in their quest for land and freedom, miners seeking the riches of the Rocky Mountains, and the first transcontinental railroad linking the East and West Coast. Read more
Fort Mitchell - Mitchell, Nebraska
Fort Mitchell was constructed and manned in the autumn of 1864 by Company "H" of the Eleventh Ohio Volunteer Cavalry under Captain J. S. Shuman. In February 1865 they helped defend Mud Springs Station against an attack by Cheyenne. In June 1865 they rescued Fort Laramie troops ambushed by Sioux near Horse Creek. Read more
Fort Sidney Museum and Post Commander’s Home -Sidney, Nebraska
The Garrison was built to protect railroad workers in the late 1800s. Historical markers give the history of the old railroad town and the north-south trails to the gold fields in the Black Hills. Read more
