Wyobraska Wildlife Museum - Gering, Nebraska
This museum, located in Gering is a collection of more than 500 animals that have undergone taxidermy and are then set up in replicas of what would have been their natural habitats.
The museum has many animals that are currently roaming the earth, but they also have quite a few extinct animals in their dioramas, including a replica of a prehistoric rhino that stands 19 feet tall.
This is a very interesting place to visit, and has a great deal of historical information that adults will find as fascinating as the children find the various displays.
A world with a collection of over 500 wild animals from seven continents of pre-historic animals, birds, butterflies and other species natural to the western Nebraska area. The museum showcases walrus, polar bears, seal and ArctIc fox. Exhibits such as the tundra land proudly tell the story of the snowshoe rabbit, and geese with the grizzly, Dall, Fannin and Stone sheep roaming on a painted mountainside. The museum displays extinct animals that children would never otherwise see or be able to study such as the Black Faced Impala from Africa.
